How to Show a Country-Specific Notice at Shopify Checkout Without Code

Some orders need a little extra attention before they are placed.

For certain countries, your carrier, customs process, or internal fulfillment workflow might depend on accurate recipient details. A clear reminder at checkout gives customers a chance to review their name, address, and phone number before they pay.

You do not need a Shopify Plus plan, an app, or custom checkout code to do this. This method works for all Shopify plans because it uses Shopify’s standard shipping zones, shipping rates, and delivery details.

Why use a shipping rate for the notice?

You can add this information to a product page, announcement bar, policy page, or cart. But customers can easily miss it.

A shipping rate notice appears after a customer enters an eligible shipping address and reaches the shipping method section of checkout. It puts the reminder close to the moment they place the order.

This is a notice, not a form field or validation rule. It does not collect or verify customer information. It simply helps customers review and correct the details they have already entered.

Create a shipping zone for the country

From your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Shipping and delivery.

Open the shipping profile that applies to the products you sell. For most stores, this is the general shipping profile.

Create a separate shipping zone for the country where you want the notice to appear. In this example, the country is Brazil.

If the country is already included in a broader international zone, remove it from that zone first. A country can belong to only one shipping zone within the same fulfillment location and shipping profile.

Also make sure that the country belongs to an active Shopify Market. Customers can only check out when their country is included in both an active market and a shipping zone with available rates.

Add a shipping rate with delivery details

Inside the new country-specific zone, add a shipping option. A flat rate is the simplest option for this setup.

Give the rate a clear name, such as Standard International — Brazil Notice.

Then add your message in Delivery details. Shopify displays these details below the shipping option at checkout.

For example:

Brazil notice: Check that the recipient’s name, address, and phone number are correct. Incorrect details may delay delivery.

Keep the message short and practical. Delivery details have a 128-character limit, so focus on the action the customer should take.

Test the notice at checkout

Save your shipping settings, add a product from the relevant shipping profile to your cart, and begin checkout.

Enter a shipping address in the target country. When the matching shipping rate appears, its delivery details should appear directly below the shipping method.

Test on desktop and mobile. If you sell products from multiple shipping profiles or fulfillment locations, test a cart that includes each relevant product combination. Shopify can combine shipping rates in those situations.

What this method does and does not do

This method is useful when you need customers to notice something before they order. It can reduce incorrect recipient details, prevent avoidable delivery delays, and set clearer expectations for country-specific orders.

It does not collect tax IDs, validate names, verify addresses, or block checkout. If you need those capabilities, you might need a separate shipping workflow, an app, or a more advanced checkout solution.

Before publishing a country-specific notice, confirm the wording with the carrier, customs broker, or compliance team responsible for that destination. Keep the message accurate, specific, and easy for customers to act on.
